# Takeoff

**A takeoff is the measurement of quantities from the plans, such as wall and ceiling area, number of sheets, linear feet of corner bead and amount of mud, so you can price the job.**

## Why it matters on a drywall job

- Your price is only as good as your quantities. A missed room or ceiling height shows up later as lost money.
- Keeping the takeoff with the bid helps you show what was included when scope changes.
